NEON NEON! Party to benefit Kenny Brimer
Posted: Sep 19, 2009 06:34 pm » by: 50-50 » 0 comments

NEON NEON! PARTY TO BENEFIT TWO CAUSES! Keep the Country COUNTRY a Local Non-Profit and KENNETH BRIMER a local Skateboarder within Hawaii’s skateboarding community that was just diagnosed with Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia …

(September 2, 2009) – innov8 Magazine is teaming up with Blue Hawaii Surf and The Hundreds for the most electrifying “NEON NEON” fundraiser on the island. Nella Media Group will also be showcasing their second issue of innov8 magazine (the active lifestyle issue).

NEON NEON is set for Saturday, September 19th at SOHO MIXED MEDIA BAR which will feature great entertainment, art show and a an exciting NEON fashion show showcasing Blue Hawaii, The Hundreds, amongst other “Fall & Winter Lines”. Thousands of dollars in surfboards, clothing and other products to be given away to help raise money for the TWO selected CAUSES.

WHAT: NEON NEON, also Blue Hawaii’s Surfs 25th Silver Anniversary of Hanging Loose in Hawaii

WHEN: Saturday, September 19th (Doors open from 9pm to 2am)

WHERE: SOHO MIXED MEDIA BAR (80 S. Pauahi St. Honolulu, HI 96813)

WHY: Fundraiser for Keep the Country COUNTRY and Kenneth Brimer a Local Hawaii Skateboarder that was just diagnosed with Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia

WHO: Blue Hawaii Surf, The Hundreds and innov8 Magazine (NMG//Nella Media Group)

As with every Nella Media Group event, NEON NEON is a fundraiser for a local non-profit organization or individual in need of support. This year the proceeds from the event will go to TWO causes, one of them being: Keep the Country COUNTRY (Defend Oahu Coalition). KCC is working together toward one goal: Protecting communities on Oahu from the dangerous effects of large-scale development. We believe that the beautiful open spaces and shorelines on Oahu are for all residents and visitors to enjoy. We are committed to ensuring that they will be a resource for generations to come.

The second cause will be for Kenneth Brimer aka Kenny. Kenny just has been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia. Kenny is known as a longtime local skateboarding (OG) in Hawaii. He has been skateboarding for well over 20 years in Hawaii and is a very well respected person within the skateboard community.

Words from Kenny:

“My name is Kenneth Brimer I've been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia. The doctor says I have good chance to be elected to have stem cell transplant. You can't believe how unexpected this is, at my age (36) I have it in me to get over this.... but it seems like the fight is only half the battle. I need the fight of other people along with mine to kick this.”

“Thank you for all of the help.”
- Kenneth Brimer

Help Kenny directly by donating any amount you can for his medical expenses. Above is a DONATE button for secure donations through the Solitary Arts and PayPal. 100% will go to Kenny. For more info visit Club Mumble or Solitary Arts

Living in the mountains of the North Shore of Oahu, the master appears once again. Showing up to random sessions here and there Bo is shredding like it was '88 again! Sooth, Effortless and Over It can describe his style...

Only 50 decks produced for Hawaii. 2 sizes to choose from: 8" and 9". Old Vision graff ripped and redone for today (scanned from the original sticker Moboo gave to me years ago). Available at your Local Hawaii skate shops Now (Blue Hawaii, ABP, Crank & Carve).

For what it was worth, we were heard. Thanks to everyone for showing up in support of building a better skatepark on the North Shore. It's so important the every park from here on out be built as if it were going to be the best in the world. Especially if the park will be a permanent structure across the street from one of the best surf spots in the world.

The Best New Podcasts of 2006: People's Choice
Not quite sure how we accomplished this, but the 50-50.com Skateboarding Podcast has been one of the top 100 most subscribed to podcasts of 2006. Apple's iTunes has recognized our podcast along with 100 others as the "People's Choice". Considering only four skateboarding podcasts even made the top 100 we think that's pretty cool, thank you very much.

From iTunes:
Podcasting continued its explosive growth in 2006 with compelling new shows coming from all corners of the new media landscape, from major networks and well-known celebrities to creative individuals and offbeat collectives. Of the many new entries submitted to iTunes this year, here are the 100 podcasts that generated the most subscriptions.

If you're like us and still don't know what all the hubbub is over this podcasting stuff, then take a look at our podcast page or check us out on the People's Choice page in iTunes.
