What more we say? It's the Hawaiian Scene; Graffiti, Homeless Locals, and Holmesless Locals (APB - watch out), it's the media haven known as A'ala Park. The birthplace and romping grounds of many talented skateboarders in Hawaii.

Once an early 70's roller skating rink, A'ala Park has undergone some major changes:

An over-vert lip was added around the entire park for safety reasons (supposedly to keep boards, bikes, and people in).
Johnee Kop and friends chipped out an 8' wide section of the over-vert lip (notice how the eva-side of A'ala has a mellow section.)
The State sort of rebuilt the lip.
Eugene Yambau was born.
Eugene Yambau did inverts on the frickin railing!!!
The homeless community moves into the surrounding vicinity.
As part of a beautification project the homeless community moves out of the surrounding vicinity and into Downtown Honolulu.
The beautification project is extended to include some reconstruction of the A'ala Park Skating Rink (see below).

Well, I guess you are supposed to have a Skate ID or something to skate at A'ala Park, but no one really seems to care. If you need to get an ID there is no charge, kiddies under 18 need a parent's signature. If you get kicked out of A'ala Park I would recommend skating the wonderful streets of Downtown Honolulu.
