Video Review
Friends of Salmon + Wasting Time Capital 7 Films
VHS. 1996
| Unlike many of the cardboard cutout videos of the early 90's, Capital 7's Vol II, videos II & III: "Wasting Time" & "Friends of Salmon" bring back the days of video camera fun. Now, we have all been inspired to tape ourselves skating (among other things), but only a few can take on the task of editing it all together. Amidst the long hours of editing and filming comes a moment of humor and creativity, this is where the Capital 7 films lie. Yes, it's all included, funny skits, fish-eyed faces, and a glance into college life. |

| Both videos mix the talents of B3+S (aka. Bullshit bladers, Boarders, Bikers & Snowboarders). I don't know what the title's all about, but I can assure you it has nothing to do with Salman Agah. |

"Friends of Salmon" opens with rail sliding, kick flippin, editor, Travis Keller ripping it up, followed by the multi-talented co-producing Fountain 'Brothers' Joey busts on blades and bikes, and Louie's consistency shows in his boarding, biking, snowing, and gymnastic part. Other features include Brian Estepan, humorous Jacob Duncan, and Mark Martin. Special guest appearance by Mr. Roof-Pecking Sack Man and Drastic(ally) boring beatbox masters. Bonus points for the Gonz Car Jumping, and Donger would be impressed with the Roof Drops.

Though Travis wont agree, I enjoyed "Wasting Time" a bit more, perhaps I'm a skit sucker or my Hawaii Bias puts it a bit over Video III, I don't know. Once again Louie and Travis start the show with good tricks and lines. Maui Locals: Darryl, Ray, Ernie, Duane & Paul show they know their turf. I think I've seen both Duane & Paul at The Maui Skatepark. Paul is speedy on the streetcourse and Duane shows good ramp romping skills.

Louie Fountain (the Gymnast) confuses the words Balancebeam and long-assed Banister. |

What the hell is this! |

Special debut by Al the local Rent-A-Cop and Tough Guy who throws everything off balconies. Special Mention goes to the mid-video B&W skit "The Journey to Nowhere", starring a dreaded Travis. Oh, indeed it is quite humorous, the poop show and bike fun are well done. The only minor drawbacks would be the 'Magical Biker Glasses' disappearing act, and the use of ketchup rater than Psycho Chocolate Blood.
