This chap was jolly difficult to think up questions for... Therefore this Warped Tour 1998 interview is a bit week, don't worry though, we'll invent some shit to fill in the gaps.

50-50 : So being from North carolina, are you into country music?
Neal Hendrix : yeah, i like country music, not that TV and radio country shit, but i like kinda old school.
 50-50 : But do you like to listen to country when you skate?
NH : No, country and skating don't really go to well together. It's more for when your driving for three hundred hours across country, stopping at truck stops, hell, you've got to listen to something. The all time ruler is Hank Williams, not Hank Williams junior but old Hank Williams.
50-50 : so what all happened at the eastern vert skatepark then? Were you ever asked to bend over and pick up the soap in the showers?
NH : Oh all that shit... Well the really crazy shit went down at "eye level" skatepark in tennesse. The guy BK when he opened the skatepark in north carolina, the skatepark went out of business and he was run out of town. there were always sketchy rumors flying about, but i was there every day and i never saw anything and nothing like that ever happened to me.
50-50 : So what's up with black label? i heard they kicked everyone off the team to afford your salary.
NH : Ha, that's so lame man. only just because if anyone knew anything about that, they'd know that skippy and those dude's left or were kicked off way before i joined the team. All that went down in december 96 and i didn't join until march 97. I'd never even talked to Lucero about riding for black label when all that went down. It's just funny that everyone says that.
 50-50 : so have you ever been over to britain?
NH : oh yeah , plenty times.
50-50 : Have you ever been to Scotland.
NH : no, the furthest north i ever went was Manchester . I do remember when i first went there in like '91-'92 there were a bunch of rad skaters from Scotland, i remember Davie Phillips, i used to think that guy was awesome back in the day.
50-50 : So do vans hook you up with chicks as well as money and sneakers?
NH : No, i think we can all deal with that one on our own.
50-50 : It's just i've asked some of the bands about this and they've given me some filthy looks.
NH : That's because they all have girlfriends back home like i do... i know that if you turned the tape recorder off you'd get a different answer.
50-50 : So what's up with Andy Macdonald how come every company he rides for folds, is he bad luck or what?
NH : No, No, it's not like that, it's just that he always rode for these wacky little companies like he'd never been hooked up properly before, i mean 'who' skateboards, who the hell were they anyway ? Once you ride for 'who skates' nobody's going to want to pick you up. Then he rode for 'human' which is some wakeboard / snowboard company that made skateboards so he rode for them like forever and now that he rides for powell. no doubt he'll ride for them forever too.
Neal turned out to be another helpful little soul, dishing up the dirt on Mr. Macdonald. I didn't realize that he was so old. Any way, he had the true 50-50 spirit.
