BP Tosses the Caber!!!
John & Brandon venture to Scotland
May 26, 1998

Brandon grinds the bowl at Livingston
Our roving reporter Brandon Perry (see also BP in NYC: The Rat Adapts) and his sidekick, the jetsetting John Albus went over to Scotland earlier this summer to get us the scoop on a few questions we've had here at FBM. Questions like: 1)If there was a sporran staring you in the face would you lick it? or 2)How many times can you toss your own caber in one day? or 3)If the Hibbs kick ass enough to paint their name on your skateboard, why didn't they win the World Cup? Unfortunately, John and Brandon spent most of their time drinking and skating, but at least they brought back some snapshots of them pounding their haggis. Enjoy. Yeah Dude!!

Ali (the driver!) exudes a little bit of island spirit

 S.S. adulation in Livingston
"We arrived by train in Edinburgh and walked to a nearby pub through the drizzly, damp streets. Pints of Guiness and hot soup were ordered and we were met by Daryl and Ali shortly. The Scottish hospitality and goodwill flowed as did the draught Guiness and lines at the local parks. Day 2 consisted of a godsend break in the rain and a two hour session at Livingston. A brilliant cement park with two mini bowls, a banked half pipe, moguls and a vert bowl. Not since the eighties had my wheels kissed such solid terrain. Memories of Del Mar and Upland shot through my head as my trucks barked through the cement coping's grip. Daryl popped ollies over the mogul and Albus & Ali blazed speed lines all over creation. Twin Rollerbladers (ed. note "Twin Fruitbooters") from England slammed all over but insisted that the English don't quit or rest for that matter (Get those boys some skateboards!). The following day we journeyed to the City of Dundee to skate their new park "The Factory".

The rest of the Livingston skatepark!

Although we had to wait for a session it was well worth it. I won't try to explain it. It was a tight park, but workable if you stayed alert. After a session, we had some local fish & chips with extra salt, vinegar, and sauce and after almost having a heart attackwe drove home and hit the local pubs.

Our stay was short, but our hosts hooked us up big time and we would like to thank them for their hospitality and huge hearts. Special thanks to Ali and Daryl for putting us up and showing us the true Scot spirit!" --Brandon Perry
