Secret Spot
Cholo's Ramp January 11, 1999
Over a year and no Secret Spot of the Month (see last Secret Spot - Dec '97). The loads of hate mail and resultant disk space had our ISP on our ass. In an effort to remedy the situation, we followed a tip on the possible existance of a ramp located on the Northern Shore of Oahu. Unfortunately, what we came up with was a junkyard filled with abandoned tractors and cranes all overgrown with foliage. Well the search didn't end there. A year later, one of the fruitbats had mingled his way through the barriers which face a white anglo saxon living among personages of Hawaiian descent and actually skated the ramp. Here is his report...
The North Shore of Oahu has had it's share of backyard ramps but none of them as nicely sized as this one. At 20 feet wide, 5'7" feet tall and 14 feet of flat bottom.

Steve Ellis at 50 years of age can do 50-50s all day long. Can you pull off the 150?

Although not as solid as a skatepark ramp , this well kept set up is your #1 option if you happen to be out in the country (and you're friends with owner Cholo aka Woody Woodflow that is).
Some of the world's most famous breaks are only 1/2 a minute away, but while in the water you might be greeted by heavy conditions, crowds and stink eye, the atmosphere at the ramp couldn't be mellower. In only one hour skating with a few local skaters you'll get enough rides and fun to keep you smiling for the rest of the day!
